10 Important Tasks for Organising a Rugby Tour (Coaches, Teachers)

1. Make sure everyone on Tour has travel insurance which covers playing Rugby as the "Sole Purpose of the trip ", as JS Insurance does

2. Get permission from the RFU English Rugby Union,

SRU ( Scottish Rugby Union ) and

WRU ( Welsh Rugby Union )

3. Send out a Rugby Tour Travel Checklist to each player - include Check insurance, check Passport validity, Vaccinations, Medicines, Parental Permission,

4. Send itinerary to all players, leaving times, training times, game times etc

5. Ensure all parents have a contact list of the Adults managing and going on the Rugby Tour.

6. Check that the Safeguarding Children Education program is in place.

7. Do your research on who you are playing and make sure they are of the same standard as your team. Make sure all players are free of injuries.

8. When going to another country, check out how the game is referred to as it can be different ( especially at the breakdown ), and train accordingly. Make your players aware.

9. A code of conduct for the touring party is sent out to all players and travellers.

10. If other activities, such as downhill mountain biking, trekking, and horse riding, are planned on the Tour, ensure the insurance covers them.
