Common Injuries
Exhaustion and Dehydration
Swimming mainly uses muscles in the upper half of your body; therefore, blood will have rushed to these muscles, and there will be a delay for the blood to reach the muscles in the lower half of your body where it is required for the next leg: Cycling.
The Transition from Cycling to Running
It is even more exhausting as your legs will already feel tired from Cycling at a fast pace in a circular motion; they need to get used to working in an up-and-down motion.
Triathletes train to overcome these fatigue factors using "back-to-back" training before a Triathlon.
Exhaustion and dehydration can seriously impair any competitors in a Triathlon. You must keep yourself hydrated throughout the event and not overexert yourself if you begin to feel ill.
However, do not overconsume water, as doing so can result in Hypothermia, which can cause vomiting or, in extreme cases, death. The amount of water you drink should be dictated by your thirst levels.
Triathlon Types
