Before You Travel
- Discuss your travel plans with your doctor well in advance. They can advise you if it is a good idea to travel, what precautions to take, and whether you need any further medication.
- Take as many Vitamin B12 injections or tablets to cover your entire trip. Consider travelling with a doctor's note explaining your condition and the need for your Medication.
- If you are flying, inform the airline about your anaemia. They might be able to provide you with extra oxygen or assistance if needed.
- If you travel to a remote area or a country with limited medical facilities, you must take extra care and precautions.
Whilst Abroad
- Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration, which can worsen anaemia symptoms.
- Wash your hands and practice good hygiene.
- Please don't overdo it. Rest when you can and avoid strenuous activities.
- Always carry your medical information with you, including the Medication, and have the emergency numbers to your destination on hand.
- Plan for getting medical help if needed.
